Many staff members are bilingual and have personally attended our long-term private school, graduated, pursued higher education, and returned to work with us—some for over 20 years. We only take a total of about 25 students per year in our Spanish immersion program, allowing them to stay in the actual homes with the families of our long-term staff, each in their own room. This arrangement fosters a friendly study abroad or foreign exchange student-style environment, providing students with a family-like atmosphere rather than the institutional setting of the past. It is ideal for our individualized Spanish immersion process, as the bilingual staff ensures that students speak and use Spanish every waking hour of the day. The efficiency of this approach lies in the fact that the staff lives in these actual homes, surrounded by Spanish, and the staff homes are typically 'Tico,' meaning humble yet comfortable and kept very clean. Usually, we have no more than two students per home, sometimes up to four, but typically, it’s about two students per home.
